On September 28 the Tariff Council of Azerbaijan held a meeting to consider the tariffs for passenger transportation in the city routes, including Baku-Sumgayit route. At the resolution of the Tariff Council, the unified tariffs in the cit transport was set as 15 gepiks.
Over the first 9 months of 2006 cargo deliveries by all types of transport conveyances made up 101.4 million tons, 9.4% more than 2005. 54.8% of entire cargo deliveries fell on private sector.

Cargo deliveries by all types of transport conveyances made up 21.9 million tons, 15.5% more than 2005.
The aggregate amount of passenger transportation grew 5.8% as compared to 2005 and made up 783.8mln men. In this period 84.5% of passengers used automobile transport. The share of automobile transport in the passenger transportation made up 84.6%, while the share of metro was 14.7%.
Over 9 months of 2006 the volume of cargo deliveries comprised 53.2mln tons of cargo, or 6.3% more than 2005. The volume of passenger transportation made up 663mln (rose 5.6%). In turns the cargo turnover rose 8.7%, while passenger transportation 7.9%.
Thus, in the first 9 months of 2006 the Azerbaijan State Railway Department (ASRD) transported 22.9 million tons of cargo, or 22.2% more than last year. The cargo turnover rose 22.2%.
The cargo shipping comprised 10.6 million tons with a rise of 6.6% as compared to 2005. The two third of cargo deliveries fell on oil and oil products, while one third was dry cargo. 99.7% of cargo deliveries was implemented under the international operations. The passenger transportation rose 9.2% as compared to last year, while goods turnover increased 17.4% and made up 6.3bln ton per km.
In January to September the volume of cargo processed at the ports of Azerbaijan made up 4.6 million tons, or 11.4% more than last year. 83.7% of the entire cargo fell on transit cargo, which increased 8.3% more than last year. The amount of import cargo rose 12.2 times and export cargo 42.2 times.
In this period oil transportation via oil pipelines rose 2.4% as compared to 2005 and comprised 9.1 million tons. It was possible as a result of commissioning of the BTC and large-scale oil production. Transportation via gas mains made up 7.6bln cu m with 43.4% of import gas.
Passengers transportation via airways grew 7.8% and made up 988,000 million people, including 5.9% implemented by private sector, which increased the passenger transportation by 7.3%. The completion of the summer season reduced passenger transportation.
Metro remains to be the popular and profitable. Over the first 8 months a total of 115.1mln passengers traveled by metro, or 7.7% more as compared to last year.
In January to September 32.2mln tons of cargo has been transported via the Eurasian corridor, which exceeded the last year figure by 8.4% and comprised 35.9% of entire cargo deliveries to the country.
