Export from Armenia to countries of Eurasian Union declines sharply

Armenia has been a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) for more than four months and is suffering from negative effects of its membership in the form of reduced trade volumes, the Armenian website 1in.am said.

Export of Armenia decreased by approximately 23 percent, while import - by 30.5 percent in the first quarter of 2015, compared to the same period in 2014. As a result, the volume of export was smaller than in the first quarter of 2012, while import - even smaller than in the first quarter of 2010.

And although indicators of foreign trade in January, February and March 2015 is not yet complete, which is caused by the fact that not all data on trade between the countries of the EEU for the first quarter of 2015 are collected, but given the weight of all the EEU countries in the foreign trade of Armenia and statements by many businessmen in Armenia, one can assure that the published figures will not undergo significant changes.

The volume of Armenia's trade significantly reduced primarily with the main partner of the EEU - Russia. In 2015, Armenia exported almost nothing to Russia and Belarus, and zero to Kazakhstan as export of goods to that country has been stopped.
