Attack on Georgian Police Georgian-Abkhaz Conflict Zone

On 9 July the police station of Georgia in the administrative border between Abkhazia and Georgia was shot at 5:00 a.m. The regional correspondent of Kavkaz Press reported that the attack took place in-between Chuburkhinji and Napati villages where the police station was located.

The attackers threw grenades to station by 10: 00 a.m. and fired from the guns. The police station had to retaliate. No injuries are reported. The shooting frightened the local population who was hiding in the forest.

The Russian peacekeepers deployed in the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict zone came to the place later. The investigation has been launched into the attack.
