The head of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy will today arrive in Georgia.
He will arrive in the country within his South Caucasus tour, Georgian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
During his visit, Rompuy will meet with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili. After the meeting, a joint briefing will be held.
The parties will discuss the relations between Georgia and the EU, which has recently gained momentum. Georgia is already in talks with the EU on a comprehensive free trade, visa-free regime, as well as associate membership.
The Georgian side hopes to conclude these negotiations within 12-18 months.
Rompuy will arrive in Tbilisi from Yerevan, and will visit Baku on July 5.
