Research on combating corruption in Georgia has been presented in Tbilisi. It was stressed that Georgia is the least corrupt country among those seeking to join NATO.

EU Ambassador to Georgia Philip Dimitrov and Deputy Minister of Justice Giorgi Vashadze opened the presentation of the research results conducted by IBRD, IDEX, "International Transparency - Georgia" and EU.

According to the survey, no one demanded bribe from 99 percent of Georgian citizens last year. Georgia is the first country in Europe on this index. Georgia is the most non-corrupt country among the candidate countries for NATO membership. The citizens of the country
face corruption in their daily life four times less compared to EU citizens.

According to the survey, about 77 percent believe that the steps taken by the government against corruption are effective.

Giorgi Vashadze said that it is important that the European methodology has been used in research. He said that the latest study in Georgia was conducted through the EU financing. According to it,Georgia is the most non-corrupt country among the EU member states and
Europe.

"Georgia has actually changed the existing view that it is difficult to combat corruption," Vashadze said. If anyone wants, there is nothing impossible. Accordingly, we have concrete results."

Philip Dimitrov said that Georgia was able to overcome corruption.

There is a high level of democracy in the country.

He said that Georgia is one of the safest countries.

The results show that there is no corruption in the system of the Georgian government and justice, Dimitrov said.

"Georgia has been successfully combating corruption," he said.

"Georgia has the best index among other European countries. It is important not only for Georgia but for other countries, as Georgia is a good example for them."
