Georgian government intends to refund damage caused by natural disaster to Georgia from multiple sources. Proposals on amendments to the budget are submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers by Finance Minister Dmitry Gvindadze.
In particular, he said, one source of funding is the foundation of disaster reduction, which provides 50 million lari, and this amount will be directed to the full implementation of urgent measures.
The minister added that program of Kakheti development will be expanded for which 110 million lari will be allocated in connection with the disaster. Some 20 million lari of these will be spent for the elimination of the natural disaster. In addition funding for several municipalities of Kakheti will also be increased by 2 million lari.
Gvindadze noted that 17 million lari remain in the reserve fund of the Government, from where, if necessary, additional funds to rebuild the affected regions will be allocated.
The government will present project of budget changes to the Parliament today.
The disaster raged in three regions of Georgia - Kakheti, Mtskheta-Tianeti and Samtskhe-Javakheti on Wednesday night. A total of over 30,000 families suffered from the disaster.
