Patrol police will leave all detention facilities in Georgia on Monday, the Ministry of Corrections, Probation and Legal Assistance of Georgia said.

Patrol police will leave all detention facilities in Georgia on Monday, the Ministry of Corrections, Probation and Legal Assistance of Georgia said.

According to the ministry, prisons are fully controlled by new leadership of the Department of Corrections.

"Patrol police gradually leave prisons, they will completely leave detention facilities on Monday," the ministry said.

Patrol police was sent to prisons on Sept.18 by an order of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, to maintain order after the scandal over abuse of prisoners.
