Money transfers to Georgia exceed investments

The volume of remittances in Georgia in September 2021 has increased by 8.8 percent to $210 million, compared to the same period of 2020, which is a significant impact on the inflow of currency into the country, Trend reports via Georgian media.

The total amount of remittances from abroad from January through September 2021 has increased by 27.8 percent to $1.7 billion, compared to the reporting period of 2020.

Remittances from January through September 2021 exceeded investments by 81 percent over the last 1.5 years.

TOP-5 countries with the largest amount of remittances transferred in Sept.2021:

Russia – $38.5 million;

Italy – $34 million;

The US – $24.5 million;

Greece – $20 million;

Israel – $15.4 million.

The volume of money transfers from Poland increased by 21 percent, Germany – 44 percent, Kazakhstan – 205 percent, Kyrgyzstan – 238 percent.
