Georgia’s hazelnuts exports keep growing

Georgia has exported up to 17,000 tons of hazelnuts worth $77.2 million from August 1 through December 26, 2021, Trend reports, referring to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia.

The volume of Georgia’s hazelnut exports in the reporting period of 2021 increased by 28 percent (3,700 tons), while the value of exports increased by 10 percent ($7.2 million), compared to the same period of 2020.

According to the ministry, Georgian hazelnuts are mainly exported to European countries, as well as to neighboring countries.

TOP 10 importers of Georgian hazelnuts:

Italy – 7,054 tons;

Germany – 3,140 tons;

Armenia – 1,198 tons;

China – 780 tons;

Spain – 478 tons;

Czech Republic – 445 tons;

Russia – 358 tons;

Poland – 337 tons;

Lithuania – 305 tons;

Ukraine – 301 tons.

According to the ministry, the hazelnut harvest in 2021 is of high quality due to active and purposeful work on pest extermination.

It is planned to collect about 65,000-70,000 tons the export potential of which is $150 million.
