BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 5. Latvia and Georgia have strong potential for expanding their cooperation in various sectors, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia told Trend.
According to the source, one of the main cooperation priorities is the information and communication technologies sector (ICT).
“ICT is one of the fastest-growing industries in Latvia, and we can offer cooperation in the ICT sector with an emphasis on cross-industry collaboration products and solutions (bio-economy, biomedicine, smart materials, incl. photonics and optics, and smart energy),” the ministry said.
Another major sector for cooperation development between the countries is transport and logistics, as Georgia is an important partner in the Transcaucasian region, the source noted.
Georgian Railway JSC wished to join the ZUBR container train project in 2017. The ministry expressed hope that the current changing global situation in the transportation sector can help the Georgian side resume the course it started on in this regard.
“We are pleased with the indications of recovery and growth in the trade exchange between Latvia and Georgia in 2021. There is potential and we look forward to the continuing expansion of cooperation between our countries,” the ministry said.
