BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 23. Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a bilateral US foreign aid agency, and Georgia considered the start of negotiations on a new cooperation program, Trend reports via the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.

The issue was discussed at the meeting between Georgia’s Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili and Vice President of the Department of Policy and Evaluation at MCC Alicia Phillips Mandaville as part of the annual spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group held in the US.

The MCC’s program will be aimed at supporting Georgia’s development and economic growth agenda.

The sides also focused on the quality of general, vocational, and higher education and the development of Georgia's human capital, as well as the development of educational infrastructure.

The minister noted that the involvement of the MCC in the direction of education reform is particularly vital to promoting economic growth and poverty reduction.

Meanwhile, the MCC's second $140 million compacts have become one of the largest investments in Georgia's education sector.
