An Egyptian-Saudi summit this week will tackle the growing tensions in Lebanon, Egypt's chief diplomat said Monday, dpa reported.

"Threatening to use force in Lebanon by any party is not acceptable," Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit said.

"The stability of Lebanon is not a game that can be manipulated by any party, or a tool used to settle regional or international issues," Abdul Gheit told reporters in Kampala, where he was attending an African Union meeting.

Saudi Arabia's ruler, King Abdullah, will start a tour of the Middle East on Wednesday in the resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh, where he will meet President Hosny Mubarak of Egypt.

He will then continue on to Syria for high-level talks and finish his trip in Lebanon, where the monarch will meet President Michel Suleiman.

In May 2008, the so-called Doha Agreement was reached in Qatar by rival Lebanese factions, ending 18 months of political deadlock in the country.

However, concerns within the Shiite Hezbollah movement that its members could be indicted by a United Nations tribunal in September for involvement in the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafik al-Hariri has widened the divide between the factions in Beirut.

Hariri's son, Saad al-Hariri, is the current Lebanese premier and leads a Western-backed government that also receives support from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and other key Arab states
