Palestinian militants shot and wounded four Israeli soldiers near the Gaza Strip's borders on Friday, Israeli media reported.
The website of Israel's Yediot Ahronot newspaper reported that the Palestinian gunmen approached the security fence separating Israel and Gaza and opened fire at an army unit, Xinhua reported.
The wounded soldiers were evacuated to hospital by a helicopter and there was no details on the situation of the soldiers.
No Palestinian militant group has yet claimed responsibility for the shooting.
Local Palestinian reports suggested that the militants were planting explosives near the fence before they noticed the soldiers and shot at them. Monitoring the borders and laying explosives is a routine work for the militants in the Hamas- controlled Gaza Strip.
