Foreign Minister of Jordan Nasser Judeh on Tuesday said Jordan hopes that security and stability will be restored in Bahrain, reiterating that Jordan is following up with concern the developments in the Gulf country, The Jordan Times reported.

In a statement, the minister appealed to Bahrainis to resort to reason and dialogue to realise their aspirations.

He called on the Bahraini people to respond positively to the dialogue initiative by King Hamad Ben Isa Al Khalifa, who entrusted Crown Prince Salman Ben Hamad Al Khalifa to carry it out.

He stressed Jordan's utter rejection of any foreign interference in the internal affairs in Bahrain, expressing Jordan's confidence in the wisdom, patriotism and the foresight of the people and the government of Bahrain.

The crown prince has met some opposition leaders in recent days, though opposition groups say no dialogue has begun yet.

State media said the king had ordered the release of convicted prisoners whose names would be released on Wednesday and a stop to ongoing court cases - opposition figures said they understood this to mean the trials will be shelved.
