A spate of car bombings have hit a market in central Iraq killing at least 13 civilians and wounding 30 others, officials say Al Jazeera reported.
A police officer said three parked car bombs exploded virtually simultaneously early on Monday, tearing through a wholesale vegetable and fruit market in the town of Jidaidat al-Shatt in Diala province, just outside the provincial capital of Baqouba some 60km northeast of Baghdad.
The officer added that the death toll could rise.
Violence has spiked in Iraq in recent weeks, raising fears of a return to widespread sectarian bloodshed.
