A suicide bomber Sunday killed eight people in an attack in a Kurdish-dominated area north of Baghdad, security officials said, dpa reported.
The assailant blew himself up inside a car packed with explosives near a Kurdish security building in the area of Tuz Khurmato, about 170 kilometres north of the Iraqi capital.
Four people were injured, the officials said.
The area is at the centre of a dispute between the central government in Baghdad and the autonomous Kurdistan region.
Iraq has recently seen a surge in attacks, which have raised fears of a return to the sectarian violence that pushed the country to the brink of civil war in 2006 and 2007.
