( dpa ) - A Japanese navy destroyer collided with a fishing boat in the Pacific off the coast of central Japan Tuesday.

Two fishermen went missing when the 7.3-ton vessel broke into two and capsized after it collided with the 7,700-ton Aegis battleship.

The government set up a special task force to investigate.

It was the first major accident involving a Maritime Self-Defence vessel and a civilian ship since a submarine and a fishing boat collided in Tokyo Bay in 1988, killing 30 crew members, local media reports said.
