( dpa ) - A carpenter has committed suicide by hanging himself from the rafters of Mel Gibson's new California home.
The body of the 47-year-old workman was found at the site at 8 am on Wednesday.
"There were three additional co-workers there, one of them notified the police," Detective Eddie Brown of the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department said. "Nobody lives on the property, it's only wood framework."
Police say that no note was found, but that the death is being treated as suicide.
According to celebrity website TMZ.com, the man was a construction foreman on a number of movie sets, including The Matrix Reloaded, and Dr Dolittle 2, and was going through severe financial troubles following a messy divorce. He had no direct connection to Gibson.
