Ukraine, Kiev, 26 March / Trend corr Z. Novosvitski / Ukraine suggested Mexico to become permanent observer at the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM ( Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova).
According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, the issue was discussed at the meeting between the Ukrainian Ambassador to Mexico Aleksey Branashko and the Mexican Foreign Minister's Deputy for Multilateral Cooperation and Human Rights Juan Manuel Gomes Robledo Verdasko on 24 March. During the meeting the Ambassador spoke about the principles and tasks of GUAM and suggested Mexico to become an observer at the organization.
In May 2006, GUAM was reformed into an international organization and its Charter was adopted at the Kiev summit. In June 2005, Ukraine suggested Turkey to become a permanent observer at GUAM.
