(dpa) - Four wanted terrorist suspects and another 17 suspects were detained in Baghdad and the northern province of Mosul Friday, US forces said.

The detainees were believed to belong to al-Qaeda terrorist organization, Voices of Iraq (VOI) news agency reported.

In southern Baghdad a driver was killed and two civilians were injured when a bomb went off in their car, a police source told VOI.

In Salahaddin province, Iraqi forces killed four gunmen including two would-be suicide bombers, a military source told VOI.

In another incident, a bomb blast in the northern city of Kirkuk killed three Iraqi soldiers and wounded another soldier, an Iraqi army source said

The incident appeared to be the result of a roadside bomb that targeted an army patrol between the districts of al-Rashad and al- Humayra.

Meanwhile July was stated to have had the lowest monthly toll of US soldiers to die in Iraq since the 2003 invasion, with 11 troops losing their lives.

The July figures replaced May 2008 which had previously seen the lowest US troop toll with 19 soldiers killed. The statistics were reported on the www.icasualties.org website.
