The German media house RTL was set to take over a 49-per-cent stake in the Serbian television channel Avala, broadcasting authority (RRA) officials said Saturday night, dpa reported.
"We met and discussed that request. We have a conditional decision and they will have to provide additional information so RTL could take over 49 per cent of Avala," Slobodan Djoric, a member of the RRA council, told B92 radio station.
RTL failed to enter the Serbian market in the bidding for the so-called national frequencies several years ago.
The largest stakeholder in Avala is Danko Djunic, a tycoon, economic expert and former Yugoslav deputy premier.
