U.S. President Barack Obama said here on Thursday that he did not pressure Canada to extend its military mission in Afghanistan beyond the 2011 deadline during his meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

"I certainly did not press the prime minister ... All I did was compliment Canada, not only on the troops that are there ... but also, the fact that Canada's largest foreign aid recipient is Afghanistan," Obama said at a joint press conference following the meeting, Xinhua reported.
