All 8 people on crashed helicopter confirmed dead in Philippines

All the eight people, including several aides of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, on an ill- fated presidential helicopter were killed after it crashed in the hills of the northern Philippines, the police said on Thursday.

The bodies of all the six passengers and two pilots have been found on the boundary of Benguet and Ifugao, said Chief Superintendent Orly Pestano, a regional director.

Police officials said that all of the bodies -- "mangled and burned " -- have been identified, including those of Press Undersecretary Jose Capadocia and Undersecretary for Presidential Engagements and Appointments Malou Frostrom, Xinhua reported.

The air force Bell 412 was reported missing shortly after it took off from the northern city of Baguio around 4:30 p.m. local time (0830 GMT) on Tuesday and then found crashed Wednesday afternoon, suspectedly caused by the rough weather. It was heading towards the Ifugao province where Arroyo was scheduled to visit a road project on Wednesday.
