Pakistan's army kills 2 militants in northwest operations

Pakistan's security forces killed two militants in the continued search and clearance operations in northwest Pakistan's Swat and Malakand during the last 24 hours, the army said in a daily update Saturday, Xinhua reported.
  

The army said the security forces also apprehended 14 suspects and destroyed 8 houses of militants in the operations conducted in various areas of Swat, Buner districts and Mohmand tribal agency.
  

Official said the security forces killed several militants while destroyed several training centers of the militants during operation in abutting Lower Dir.
  

The security forces also recovered some weapons and ammunition and defused several bombs.
  

According to police sources, at least three civilians were killed Saturday in two separate attacks on Pakistani security forces while 10 sustained injuries.
  

Meanwhile in the capital of Islamabad, police apprehended a suspected terrorist for allegedly having links with Al-Qaeda, a private TV channel reported.
  

On relief activities, the army said, 237,574 cash cards have been distributed amongst the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Malakand and 13 trucks of rations and relief items have been dispatched for the people in the main town Mingora.
  

On Saturday, all government and private schools have been reopened in the troubled northwest, including those in the conflict-hit districts of Swat, Buner and Lower Dir, following the military offensives against the Taliban.
