Alec Baldwin and Australian actress Toni Collette won acting comedy Emmys on Sunday in a night of surprises and industry jokes about the dwindling power of television as mass entertainment, Reuters reported.

Collette beat favorite Tina Fey, the creator and star of the satire '30 Rock,' as best comic actress for her role in the Showtime's 'United States of Tara.'

'I don't think there's competition in art,' Collette told reporters backstage of her victory over Fey.

Baldwin, who plays Fey's egotistical boss in NBC's self- parody of network TV, won his second best comic actor Emmy for the role.

'30 Rock' went into Sunday's 61st Primetime Emmy Awards -- television's highest honors -- with a leading 22 nominations including best comedy series, which will be handed out at the end of the three-hour ceremony.

'Mad Men,' the low-rated but acclaimed AMC drama series set in the 1960s advertising industry, is tipped to repeat its win last year when it became the first series from a cable network other than HBO to win the Emmy for best drama.

But there were no surprises in the reality competition show category. 'Amazing Race,' won for a 7th straight year, beating rivals 'American Idol,' 'Dancing with the Stars,' 'Top Chef' and 'Project Runway.'
