Ivory Coast players, who on Sunday lost their Group G match against Brazil 3-1 at Soccer City, still believe that they can advance to the knock-out phase, dpa reported.

Brazil on six points has already secured a place in the next round, while Ivory Coast and Portugal are on one point each, but the Portuguese are still to face North Korea in their second game.

SV Hamburg defender Guy Demel said that they would try their best to still slip though.

"You simply have to work very hard, and we will try until the end, even if our chance is very small," he said. "We also qualified for the finals very late, so we know what it is like. Possibly nobody believes in us. The group is very difficult, but we are not hiding.

"We will do everything in our power to win the final game and then see what happens."
