Germany won't have a chance against Spain if they merely try to shut out the European champions in Wednesday's World Cup semi-final, coach Joachim Loew said Tuesday, dpa reported.

Loew said his side would not be going out with a defensive frame of mind but would seek to get forward at every opportunity in a match in which Germany can avenge a 1-0 defeat in the Euro 2008 final.

Apart from the suspended Thomas Mueller, Germany are at full strength after the entire squad took part in final training Tuesday evening at a school in Durban.

Midfielder Sami Khedira (muscle strain) and defender Arne Friedrich (thigh injury) returned after resting on Monday. Striker Cacau also completed final training as he recovers from an abdominal strain but was due for a late medical check-up.

Mueller's place on the right of midfield will be taken by either Piotr Trochowski, Toni Kroos or Cacau, Loew said.

Loew said Spain could expect a much-improved Germany team from the one that lost the Euro 2008 final.

"In 2008 we did not have the same consistency," he said.

"I had seen in our pre-tournament preparations that we have players of a higher playing quality. Our combination football and the flow of our game have improved.

"Two years ago we put in a lot of energy but were not in a position to dominate a game. Now we can cause problems for teams and are much better with the ball."

Three-time world champions Germany can reach a record eighth final if they beat Spain, while Spain are seeking a first appearance at a World Cup final.

Loew said Spain, who went into the tournament as one of the top favourites, were the team with the greatest consistency over the past two years and that it would be impossible to stop them playing for 90 minutes.

"They hardly make any mistakes but we know we have the confidence and the strength, and if we can break up their play and get them out of their rhythm we also know we will get chances," he said.

Loew called for concentration in defence and a hard work rate across the pitch, but said his team "won't consciously be playing defensively."

He added: "(Andres) Iniesta, (David) Villa and others, these are world-class players, but it's our attacking force that has brought us success here and if we don't try to be offensive we won't have a chance.

"We won't be able to nail them down in their own half but we will have to force them to work back and use every chance we have ourselves to get forward."
