Chinese President Hu Jintao met with visiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel here on Friday.
Earlier this morning, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao held talks with Merkel in the Great Hall of People in downtown Beijing, Xinhua reported.
Merkel, invited by Wen, is paying her fourth China visit. Besides Beijing, she will also visit Xi'an in northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
