Eight people were killed in Venezuela in downpours caused by the tropical storm Matthew, which later weakened to tropical depression, RIA Novosti reported according to Venezuelan media.

El Universal reported citing Venezuelan Interior Minister Tareck El Aissami as saying that seven people were killed in a landslide in Antimano, a southwestern district of the capital Caracas. The minister gave no further details.
