"An International Security Assistance Force service member died following an improvised explosive device attack in southern Afghanistan today," the ISAF said in a brief press release issued here.
The nationality of the victim and location of the incident had not been revealed in the press release, adding it is the ISAF's policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.
More than 650 NATO soldiers, with the majority of them Americans, have been killed so far this year in Afghanistan.
