At least 10 people were killed and another 20 injured Wednesday when a lumber truck slammed into a passenger bus in Chile's heavily-forested Bio-Bio region, Xinhua reported quoting government source as said.
The accident occurred at 11:40 local time (15:40 GMT) near the town of Canete, in Arauco province, about 700 kilometers south of the capital Santiago, when the lumber truck collided into the side of the bus, according to provincial Governor Flor Weisse. The bus provided local shuttle service.
Nine people died at the scene and a tenth on the way to hospital, added Weisse. It is not immediately known the exact number of people riding in the bus when the accident happened.
Some of the injured were in critical condition, the governor added.
