Europe acknowledges burdens carried by Syria's neighbors - Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen said Feb. 12 at the Munich Security Conference.

She noted that the cooperation with countries, which are transit for Syrian refugees, is important.

She also expressed hope that one day the refugees will return to their countries and take part in rebuilding their states.

Munich Security Conference was opened Feb. 12 at the Bayerischer Hof Hotel - traditional venue of the conference.

Performances of several major politicians - German Minister of Defence Ursula von der Leyen, Jordanian King Abdullah Bin bin Al-Hussein, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, Saudi Arabian Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel al Dzhubeyra, the EU's senior foreign affairs diplomat Federica Mogherini , Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu were scheduled for the conference's first day.

A panel discussion on the fight against terrorism was scheduled within the framework of the first day's program.

The participants will also discuss the role of internet in radical activities and migration crisis on the conference's first day.
