(ForUm) - Victor Yushchenko has inspected Ukraine's hetman capital, Baturyn, which is now being restored, reports Trend.
Mykola Butko, Executive Director of the Hetman Capital Charitable Foundation, said restorers were now renewing Kyrylo Razumovsky's palace and needed UAH 45 mln for this, relying mostly on private donations. Last year, he added, they spent UAH 37 mln to carry out archeological research, build an outbuilding in the palace and develop Baturyn's infrastructure.
Butko said this project was the first example in the history of Ukraine of the synergisticeffect of the implementation of state initiatives in association with national business.
Serhiy Taruta, Chairman of the Industrial Union of Donbass, who is also one of the sponsors of the project, said the use of private funds was thoroughly monitoredby the Supervisory Council of the Foundation and by independent experts. Mr. Yushchenko said he wanted to meet with members of the council next week, demanding that those involved in the project work impeccably and use the money accurately.
Secretariat Chief of Staff Viktor Baloha, Culture Minister Ihor Likhovy, Defense Minister Anatoly Hrytsenko, Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko, Education Minister Stanislav Nikolayenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff Ivan Vasyunyk, Chernihiv Governor Mykola Lavryk and Kyiv Governor Vira Ulyanchenko attended the meeting.
