Prodi declared his decision at a meeting of the leaders of coalition parties, who accepted the terms.

Among other things, Prodi wants the approval of the government's foreign policy, the adoption of a law on liberalization geared to protecting consumers' rights, reorganization of the social sector and diversification of energy sources.

The leader of the Left Democrats party, Pierro Fassino , said the ruling coalition had "full confidence in Prime Minister Prodi ."
