( Itar-Tass ) -Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov believes that political will and a professional, competent approach will allow Russia and the United States to come to terms over such issues as the missile defense and the conventional forces in Europe treaty, as well as other security problems.
"There was a very useful discussion, and I believe that the presence of political will and a professional and trusting approach by both sides will make one hopeful agreements will be achieved," Lavrov said after talks with his US counterpart Condoleezza Rice.
"We reviewed progress in the consultations being held by experts from the defense and foreign ministries of the two countries over the missile defense problems, the situation involving the CFET in the wake of the moratorium Russia had to introduce, and matters related to strategic offensive arms in the contest of the presidents' instruction to draft new agreements to replace the START-1 treaty expiring next year."
