Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with his visiting Croatian counterpart Ivo Sanader to discuss ways to promote bilateral ties as well as international and regional issues of mutual interest, Xinhua reported.
Erdogan said Croatia is a country to which Turkey attaches great importance for peace, stability and welfare in the Balkans, adding that "political relations between Turkey and Croatia are excellent."
For his part, Sanader, who arrived Turkey Wednesday, said his country is willing to make efforts together with Turkey for stability in southeast Europe and to boost cooperation with Turkey in every field, including transportation and defense.
"I am very happy to have fruitful talks and we would like to further our bilateral relations with Turkey," said the Croatian prime minister.
He also said Croatia supports Turkey's bid for membership in the European Union, and that he appreciated Turkey's support for his country's accession bid to join NATO.
Also in the day, Turkey and Croatia inked four agreements on economy, foreign trade, investments and environment, besides a " Strategic Document."
The Croatian prime minister is also scheduled to talk with Turkish President Abdullah Gul later in the day.
