Turkish police detained a total of 12 people in two operations against al-Qaeda, officials said on Tuesday, Anadolu agency reported.
The operations were launched simultaneously in Istanbul and the eastern province of Van.
Detained people were suspected of preparing for terrorist act, officials said.
Police found weapons, bomb-making substances, explosives and digital materials, officials added.
The operation is still under way, police sources said.
