The festivities on the occasion of Novruz holiday have been banned in Turkey's south-eastern provinces, the Turkish Milliyet newspaper wrote March 16.

Any public events on the occasion of Novruz holiday will be prohibited in Turkey's south-eastern provinces from March 17 to March 20.

The governors of Turkey's south-eastern provinces made a decision to ban the festivities because of the threat of terrorist attacks.

The Turkish police reported that the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) terrorist organization intends to realize a series of terrorist attacks from March 20 to March 30 in major cities of Turkey.

A car bomb exploded in Ankara on March 13, near a crowded bus stop. The explosion killed as many as 37 people, 125 more got injured.
