Ankara’s police unearthed a hacker group which illegally obtained and sold data about Turkey's citizens.
The police said in a message Feb. 1 the hackers were illegally obtaining passport data and phone numbers of citizens.
An investigation revealed that the hackers obtained the data of about 50 million citizens of the country.
Back in 2016, Turkey revealed a hacker group which was also selling passport data of the country’s citizens.
Turkey’s Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, the Information and Communication Technologies Authority, the Scientific and Technological Research Council are engaged in ensuring cyber security in Turkey.
