The case of the head of Kazakhstan's Statistics Agency Anar Meshimbayeva has been submitted to court, the press service of prosecutor's office of Astana said.
"The case of Anar Meshimbayeva has been submitted to the court. Currently the criminal case is in process at district court No.2 in Astana's Yesil district," the agency's press service said.
It can be recalled that in October this year, the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Fighting Economic and Corruption Crimes completed the process of a criminal case against the former head of the Statistics Agency Anar Meshimbayeva, who has been wanted since 2009. After her arrest she was extradited by the Russian Federation in September 2013.
Anar Meshimbayeva is accused of embezzling some 758.2 million tenge ($ 1 - 152 tenge 8) allocated for the government procurement of services for the preparation of census tools for the national population census in 2009.
It is alleged this was with a group of persons in collusion with two deputies, heads of contracting organisation and other individuals, as well as the abuse of power in the government procurement of air conditioners for server hardware, causing damage to the state to the sum of 3,523,514 tenge.
