More than 66,000 people employed in state institutions have been dismissed from their duties amid a nationwide probe into the bloody July 15 coup attempt, Anadolu reported.
According to latest records, compiled by Anadolu Agency on Thursday, 66,036 employees at state institutions and organizations have been dismissed from their duties for allegedly having links to the failed coup.
A total of 5,581 workers, including 115 executives and 504 doctors in the Turkish Ministry of Health, have been dismissed.
Two ambassadors working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara, Gurcan Balik and Tuncay Babali, and 88 other workers in the ministry have been removed from their duties.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Security suspended 1,180 workers, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism suspended 110 workers, and the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock suspended 673 workers.
Moreover, a total of 8,777 workers in the Ministry of Interior Affairs, including 246 local authorities, 7,899 security personal, 614 gendarmeries, and 18 coast guard personnel have been removed from their duties.
The Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs suspended its 221 employees while 265 personnel working at the Ministry of Youth and Sports have also been dismissed.
A total of 257 people working in the additional building of prime ministry in Cankaya district in Ankara were suspended from their duties.
Because of alleged links to Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), 184 workers in the Ministry of Customs and Trade, 500 in Ministry of Finance, 86 in Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), 300 in Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, 25 in Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), 51 in Istanbul Stock Exchange (BIST) and 36 in Capital Markets Board (SPK) have been suspended.
Directorate of Religious Affairs of the Prime Ministry has laid off 1,112 personnel including department heads, provincial muftis and imams over FETO links.
Moreover, 167 personnel at the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization have been suspended from their duties, while the number of suspended workers has reached 599 in the Ministry of Family and Social Policies.
Twenty-two personnel at the Housing Development Administration of Turkey (TOKI) have been suspended from their duties.
As part of a nationwide probe against the FETO, the Ministry of National Education has announced that 42,767 of its civil servants have been removed from their duties, and 21,029 of them were from Ministry of National Education.
The work permit of the 21,029 personnel working in the private schools have been cancelled by the Ministry of National Education.
The Ministry of Defense said 262 military judges and prosecutors have been dismissed from their duties
Four instructors at Ankara University, 20 academic members and 11 administrative personnel at Bulent Ecevit University in Zonguldak province were suspended because of alleged links to FETO.
The Turkish Radio and Television Association (TRT) suspended 300 personnel, while the country’s highest TV authority, the Radio and Television Supreme Council suspended 29 personnel.
A vast number of senior bureaucrats in Turkish Parliament, including deputy secretary generals Muhammed Bozdag, Kemal Kaya and Mustafa Tamirci, have been removed from their duties.
The Ministry of Development has laid off its 82 personnel, while the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology has fired its 560 employees.
Moreover, 82 workers in the Ministry of Development, 15 in the Ministry of Economy, 21 in Turkish Statistical Institute and 108 in the Court of Accounts have been dismissed over alleged FETO links.
TURKSAT Company, the communications satellite operator of the country, has also canceled work agreement of its 29 employees.
Turkey’s treasury has suspended its 62 personnel, including two general directors, one deputy director general and five head of departments, while 529 people at agencies linked to the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication have been suspended.
