Iran Strengthens Control of Border with Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend K.Zarbaliyeva, D.Khatinoglu / Iran has strengthened its control on the border with Azerbaijan to prevent the transportation of drugs, IRNA reports.
According to the Governor of Iran's province of Ardabil, Ali Nikzade, the Government allocated $4mln for this purpose. Nikzade said that Ardabil had transformed into a transit zone for transporting narcotics. The Ardabil border with Azerbaijan runs 380 km in length and five of the province's nine cities are bordered with Azerbaijan.
