84 Georgian Captives Exchanged to 13 Ossetian Servicemen

Georgia, Tbilisi, 28 August / Trend corr. N.Kirtskhalia / A total of 84 Georgian captives were exchanged to 13 Ossetia servicemen on 27 August. At present all Georgians, who were at the detention centre in Tskhinvali, were set free like prisoners of war held by Tbilisi.

Negotiations between the Georgian and Ossetia sides were held with the mediation of the Georgian church and Russian General Vyacheslav Borisov. Exchange of captives took place at the check point of the Russian troops in Karaleti village of Gori Region.

According to the Georgian side, at present there are Georgian hostages in South Ossetia. They are under the control of separate military groups. Therefore, consultations continue with Tskhinvali.
