On September 14, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received members of the Azerbaijan national judo team who competed in the European junior championship in Yerevan, AzerTAj state news agency reported.
President Ilham Aliyev congratulated Azerbaijani athletes on the great victory, adding this victory made all people of Azerbaijan glad. The Head of State noted a very strong generation is being raised as young athletes worthily represent Azerbaijan in the international competitions. The fact that all five athletes returned home with medals is a great accomplishment. This victory occupies a great place in the history of the Azerbaijan sport because this competition was held in Yerevan. Our flag was raised five times and our national anthem was played once. Azerbaijani athletes have competed for the first time in the international event in Armenia and returned home with honor. The Head of State noted this success is the victory of Azerbaijani youth and people.
Coach of the national team Agayar Akhundzadeh, European champion Elmar Gasimov and President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation Fuzuli Alakbarov thanked Azerbaijani leader for the care he showed for them.
