Turkmen President signs pardon decree in honor of Flag Day

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov signed a decree to pardon convicted persons in honor of the State Flag Day celebrated on Feb. 9, the Turkmen government said.
"This move is dictated by the principles of charity, justice and humanism, bequeathed to us by our ancestors, as well as the ideals of a democratic legal state" the President said at the governmental meeting.
Law enforcement agencies are instructed to take all necessary measures for timely release of all pardoned citizens from the sentence serving prison so that "they could return home safely in these holidays."
Berdimuhammadov also urged law enforcement agencies, the state structures and public forces to create conditions so that "the peoples who realized their mistakes could make a step on the correct way and contribute to the country's life by honest work".
