Azerbaijan and France have discussed prospects of cooperation in legal sphere.
The Chief of Service for European and International Affairs at Ministry of Justice and Liberties of France Eric Metrper, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, met with the Chairman of the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan Ramiz Rzayev, the Supreme Court said Wednesday.
At the meeting, Rzayev spoke about the judicial system of Azerbaijan, the structure and activities of the Supreme Court and said that Azerbaijan is part of the European family and attaches special importance to co-operation with other members of the Council of Europe.
According to him, the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan examines international legal acts, particularly the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the legal precedents of the European Court on Human Rights, which are then referred to. The decisions taken are in line with European standards. The latest information technologies are used in the judicial system.
The chairman expressed his appreciation for the establishment of working relations between the judicial and legal systems of Azerbaijan and France, which has a rich legal tradition. He said that this visit will help expand and develop cooperation between the justice and judicial systems of the two countries.
Cooperation between the two countries assumes great importance, said Metrper, and it will continue.
