Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received a delegation headed by deputy chairman of the Mexican Senate Francisco Arroyo Vieira on Thursday, MFA told Trend.
The Minister expressed confidence that this visit will create new opportunities for the development of relations between the two countries.
The Foreign Minister praised the role of inter-parliamentary relations in modern diplomacy and expressed his gratitude for the decision of the Mexican Senate to recognize Khojaly tragedy as genocide.
Francisco Arroyo Vieira noted that not only the oil industry, but also the energy sector as a whole is developing in Azerbaijan.
He noted that the promotion of cooperation between the two countries is felt in many areas.
Vieira noted that Mexico supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
He noted the need to open a diplomatic mission of Mexico in Azerbaijan, to further enhance bilateral relations.
Touching upon the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, Vieira has expressed regret over the fact that the resolutions adopted by international organizations, remain on paper.
Elmar Mammadyarov the importance of exertion pressure on Armenia by the international community in order to Azerbaijanis to return to their native lands.
Vieira noted that the Parliament of Mexico will never remain indifferent to the injustice and will always support Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.
The meeting also discussed ways of developing relations between the two countries in education, opportunities for mutual exchange of students and experts.
At the end of the meeting Mammadyarov thanked the Mexican Parliament for the principled position.
