President Aliyev with spouse attend ceremony to commemorate Khojaly tragedy victims (PHOTO)
Baku, Azerbaijan, Feb. 26
Thousands of Baku residents gathered early morning on Feb.26 in front of the memorial erected in Khatai district in memory of the victims of Khojaly tragedy, to take part in the ceremony marking the 24th anniversary of the genocide.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva attended the ceremony to commemorate the Khojaly tragedy victims.
A guard of honor was lined up near the memorial.
President Aliyev put a wreath at the memorial and honored the memory of victims of Khojaly genocide.
Prime Minister Artur Rasizade, parliament speaker Ogtay Asadov, head of the presidential administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, Azerbaijan's first lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva laid flowers at the memorial.
The commemorative ceremony was attended by state and government officials, MPs, ministers, heads of committees and companies, leaders of religious confessions, as well as Khojaly massacre survivors.
The ceremony participants laid flowers at the memorial.
