Mahmudov, director of the Institute of History of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and an MP, made the remarks March 14 at a conference dedicated to the centennial of the 1918 genocide of Azerbaijanis.
"They write on social networks that the History Institute is only engaged in studying genocides. Those, who slander us, are accusing the History Institute of Armenophobia."
He said some forces inside the country are making these accusations.
Mahmudov noted that over the past period the History Institute published 412 books and only 12 of them are related to the genocide.
"Those who criticize us will change their mind if they read those books."
