BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. The visit of heads and secretaries of the Commission of the Parliament of French Polynesia (Mā'OHI Nui - in the local language), as well as senior staff of the ruling Tavini party to Azerbaijan, started on May 29, Trend reports.

The purpose of the four-day visit is to consider the possibility of establishing inter-parliamentary, economic, and humanitarian cooperation between Azerbaijan and French Polynesia, as well as cooperation in science, education, sports, health, and other spheres.

Particularly, it is planned to hold meetings in the Azerbaijani Parliament as well as in other public and private institutions in Azerbaijan.

Within the framework of the visit, a conference on “French Polynesia's right to decolonization: Challenges and Prospects”.

The visit of the delegation of French Polynesia took place at the invitation of the Baku Initiative Group, working in the field of combating colonialism and its new manifestations in the 21st century.

The visit was organized following the provisions of the Cooperation Agreement signed between the Baku Initiative Group and the Tavini Party within the framework of the international conference “Liberation from Colonialism: Consequences of Assimilation and its Impact on the Realization of Human Rights” organized by the Baku Initiative Group on April 30 this year at the UN Office in Vienna.

To note, the Tavini party has been fighting for the independence of French Polynesia for many years.
